I. ENTER: 5 REFUGE.. In order to practice diligently, when the Buddha was still alive, he made up the precepts, as well as the rules used in the world, lay people must observe the five precepts, enter the temple to practice, and keep them. The eight precepts are called Eight Quan Trai, or vow to practice Bodhisattva's conduct with Bodhisattva Upu Ba Tac precepts including 6 precepts of importance and 28 precepts of Contempt, while you who leave home as novices or novices live 10 precepts, bhikkhus live 250 and bhikkhunis take 348 precepts and your bodhisattva precepts have 10 important and 48 contemptuous precepts. These five precepts are words and deeds that are not good for themselves and for society, keeping the Five Precepts will avoid bad cause and effect. If you want to be more positive, Buddhists should practice according to the Ten Good Things. II. FIVE Precepts: Out of compassion for all sentient beings, because in order to avoid the bad retribution of having to go through samsara for many lifetimes, So the Buddha invented these Five Precepts for lay practitioners. Buddhism is a religion that brings happiness to save suffering for everyone, Buddhism respects equality and especially freedom, because we humans are in control of our own destiny, we are free to do so. by choosing the path of cultivation, we are free to act and we are responsible for our own actions through the Law of Cause and Effect, Buddha never forced us to do this or that, Buddha never had reward or punish anyone. Buddhists keep the five precepts is a completely voluntary job, when they are wronged, they know and repent by themselves. The five precepts are: not to kill (kill), not to steal (the Way), not to commit adultery (fornication), not to speak falsely (slander), not to drink alcohol (humidity). In Thien Thai Nhon Vuong Kinh, it is said that the Five Precepts of Buddhism are the Five Eternals of Confucianism: Not killing birth = Humanity, Non-religious = Righteousness, No sexual misconduct = Ritual, No Hope = Faith, No moisture = Tri. 1- DO NOT KILL: The Buddha invented the precept of not killing for the following reasons: A) Respect for equality: We often hear the Buddha saying: "Necessary sentient beings, the Buddha nature" Thus All sentient beings have Buddha-nature, we must not kill one Buddha-nature to cultivate another or to entertain ourselves. B) Cultivating compassion: Compassion is the gift of joy and relief from suffering, any animal before death will also fight death, to save life for themselves, cows and pigs when being stabbed in the head The blood cries out in agony, we have a painful wound, how much we groan, the animal suffers as well, we fear death and cry out for help, why would we kill an animal? is different? I remember having a friend who was a Veterinarian, He said that when he was working at Chanh Hung butchery, buffaloes or cows that wanted to be slaughtered had to be brought to him for examination. If they were old, they could be slaughtered, if they were still young, they could not be slaughtered. most of them have a hunch, it doesn't want to go to the examination room, when it is forced to go to the examination place, two lines of tears flow from its eyes! C) Avoiding the law of cause and effect, revenge and enmity: If we give the Humans, we will reap the fruit sooner or later, a person who sows a bean, of course, the bean tree will bear fruit for that person. , beans get sooner or later, good or bad is also due to the factors of soil, rain and sun... Killing will create enmity, killing each other, war is also because of that. Killing oneself, ordering others to kill, seeing others kill but having joy in their hearts, thinking of killing are all guilty of killing. The benefits of not killing: Individually, we produce good results, cultivate our compassion, socially there will be no killing, there will be no wars. how much suffering, mourning, the world will be at peace, the home is full and happy. 2- NO THERATING: Theft is stealing something from another person, robbery is using force to intimidate others to take their property. Robberies are caused by greed and bad habits. The Buddha invented this because: A) Respect for private property: Each person has their own wealth, every time it is lost, everyone regrets it, so we should not take it from others. B) Eliminate greed: Greed, anger, delusion are called the three toxic things Greed, Hatred, and Si. People often say "Greed is bottomless", a person with greed, when he wants to get one thing, then wants to have another, If you want but don't get much when you don't eat well, don't sleep well, sometimes you have a mind of doing something wrong like stealing from people, which will cause a lot of sins. Tax evasion, gambling, fraud are all crimes of robbery. The benefits of not stealing: About ourselves, we keep a calm mind, don't worry about being sad because of unsuccessful desires, eat well, sleep peacefully. In terms of society, if there were no robbers, people would live happily, without fear of loss of wealth, and wars would not happen. To keep this precept well, we need to give alms. Limitation: We eliminate desire, but the desire to become a Buddha is a must. 3- NO FORMULATION: Do not live a debauched life of promiscuous play. Sutras teach that: The root of birth and death, lust is the first. We lay people must have a family because of our circumstances. give birth to children, but do not practice sex against morality. Means of sexual misconduct with the Body: Living debauchery, playing games, reading and watching movies about sexual misconduct. Mouth: Speaks lewd words. Meaning: Silently thinking about immoral things. The Buddha invented this precept to: A) Abstinence from sex: Cultivators must eliminate sex, lay people must abstain from sex, thereby keeping their bodies healthy, their minds sharp, and their studies more diligent. B) Protecting family-happiness: Adultery destroys happiness, so without adultery, the family will be warm, peaceful, happy, and have good customs. C) Avoid bad retribution and hatred: Adultery causes hatred and especially bad retribution. People often say: "First after marriage, second in land", stories about men marrying other people or women having adultery, secondly stealing people's gardens and lands, these two things will create a deep enmity, or commit murder. The benefits of not committing adultery: About yourself, your body is healthy, your mind is clear, you study diligently, your family is always happy and peaceful. In terms of society, it does not cause damage to customs, does not create enmities, and kills each other. 4- DO NOT TELL THE TRUTH: There are 4 ways of telling the truth: A) Lying or lying: Having said no, not saying yes, having to say the wrong thing, saying the wrong thing to the right... it causes negative effects. harmful, often misleading people, causing division.. B) Misleading talk: Less work results in more, causing jealousy, affliction, and hatred for each other. C) Two-way tongue-talking: Coming here to say this, going to another place and saying that, often causes friction between the two sides, the conflict increases even more, sometimes because of that, the loss of peace and harmony occurs. come into conflict with each other verbally or even fight, kill each other. D) Speak cruelly: Saying vulgar, gruff words, cursing others makes people sad and embarrassed. Why Buddha invented the thing Not to tell the truth: 1) Respect for the truth: The Buddha found the truth, that is, the truth, so Buddhism always respects the truth. 2) Because of compassion: Buddhism is a religion of compassion, if we tell the truth, we will make others suffer, contrary to Buddhist teachings. 3) Avoid bad retribution: Scolding people, telling the truth people follow, that cause and effect we will also bear. The benefits of not telling the truth: If we don't tell the truth, people will trust us, give us respect, socially, too, will be trusted by those around us and the organization. . Limitations: Lying is a disaster for oneself and for others, but sometimes it is also necessary to tell the truth out of compassion. For example, people go hunting, ask if we have seen animals anywhere, we say yes, they will hunt and kill, if we say no, the hunter will leave, wild animals will not die. So speaking falsely to save the lives of sentient beings, because of our compassion, we do not commit a crime. 5- DO NOT DRINK: Alcohol is a poison harmful to health, damaging intelligence, causing stomach pain. Buddha invented this because: A) Preserve the seeds of wisdom: Alcohol will damage the nervous system, reduce intelligence, so don't drink alcohol to preserve the seeds of wisdom. B) Preventing the cause of sin: Many sins are only born from drinking alcohol, fighting just because of alcohol in, words out, stimulating each other, causing friction and then fighting, killing each other. Car accidents are often caused by drinking alcohol and then causing them. The benefits of not drinking alcohol: Drinking alcohol easily produces many bad habits, bad habits so society often shuns drinkers. If we don't drink alcohol, we will be respected about ourselves, always have a clear mind, have fewer illnesses, and live longer. In terms of society, they will be happy, the family is warm and happy, and they will not cause bad things to the society. Limitations: In case of illness, drinking alcohol is not breaking the precepts, beer is also alcohol and is in the forbidden precept. III. CONCLUSION: After taking the three refuges, Buddhists need to keep the precepts, if we can keep the five precepts, the better, if not, we should first keep 2, 3 precepts to be strict and then gradually increase. Buddha taught: After the Buddha's death, the monks take the precepts as teachers. Therefore, Precepts are very important, we need to keep the precepts to benefit ourselves and the society.END=NAM MO SHAKYAMUNI BUDDHA.( 3 TIMES ).WORLD VIETNAMESE BUDDHIST ORDER=BUDDHIST DHARMA WHEEL GOLDEN MONASTERY=VIETNAMESE BUDDHIST NUN=THE WOMEN OF THE SAKYA CLAN CHAN TANH.AUSTRALIA,SYDNEY.7/1/2022.VIETNAMESE TRANSLATE ENGLISH BY=VIETNAMESE BUDDHIST NUN=THE WOMEN OF THE SAKYA CLAN CHAN TANH.
