I. DEFINITION: DEFINITION OF THE BOARD OF COMPETITION. The Sanskrit word Dana transliterated as Dan Na means Thi means giving and giving and Bo means all. So almsgiving is giving everywhere, to all people, to all species. Almsgiving or doing good deeds have the same meaning. Generosity is one of the Six Virtues (Six Paramita): Generosity, morality, patience, diligence, meditation, and wisdom. II. CLASSIFICATION: Almsgiving is classified into three types: - Giving money, wealth (Gifting). - Bringing the Buddhadharma to others to practice (Dharma giving). - Don't be afraid to help the donor (Fearless giving). 1) Giving money and possessions: There are two types: A)- Giving what is most precious to you (internal wealth): What you are most precious, such as your own life, someone dares to sacrifice himself to save others. In the Buddha's predecessor story, there was a merchant, traveling by sailing boat, a storm arose, The ship was sunk, the merchant was holding the mast floating on the water, out of compassion, seeing that another person was about to drown, the merchant immediately gave the mast to that person to cling to, while himself drowned. That merchant was the Buddha's predecessor. We see that this kind of giving, the most noble, one must have great loving-kindness to be able to do. B)- Giving their possessions (foreign talents): Their things such as money, houses, horses, cars, fields... see others in need, because of their pity they fall into miserable situations. for example, they need money to cure diseases, we give them money, we give them money or food if we miss the road, there are people who see other people having large families with children, needing to have fields to cultivate. , immediately let the fields work to have food to feed the family, some people see other people's houses with leaky roofs, super-immediate columns help money to milk the house for the family and children to live comfortably... Taking our wealth, to help others from poverty, tribulation, suffering, we all know and have used to do that is almsgiving. 2) Bringing the Buddhadharma to others to practice: The Buddha, out of compassion for sentient beings who suffered from birth, disease, illness, and death, went to find a way to liberate it. When he attained the Truth, he preached it. preached to everyone, he had traveled to many countries in ancient India, many kings, queens, princes, officials large and small, and the people were taught by him the method of practice to get out. from all sufferings in the cycle of birth and death. For over two thousand years, people have wanted to help others, so the Buddhadharma has been passed on from one person to another, speaking to others is called preaching. printing sutras for others to read, nowadays using digital means such as printing cassettes and videos for others to hear and see also for the purpose of bringing the Buddha's teachings to others to know, believe and practice. learn. Eliminate superstition to let others know the Buddha's teachings, which is also Dharma giving. 3) Don't be afraid to help the donor: The important thing that the Buddha and the Patriarchs teach us is to keep the mind pure, then wisdom will be born, but if wisdom is born, we will progress to enlightenment, gradually progressing to the next level. Unsurpassed Righteousness, Right Enlightenment. Fear not only makes people suffer, but the mind is also not pure. In the Heart Sutra, there is the most important passage taught by the Buddha... Because of not clinging to attainment, the bodhisattva robes follow the prajnaparamita, the mind does not hinder, because there is no obstacle, so there is no fear, far away Crazy daydreaming, Nirvana goal. Helping people to stop being afraid of something is also making people out of suffering. III. THE BENEFITS OF GOD: Buddhism is a religion of compassion. Compassion is giving joy and saving suffering to all sentient beings, so out of love for people, we show others the Buddha's teachings, so that people can avoid suffering in the present and future (Dharma giving). What we have to help others get out of their sufferings (Tai and Give) and there are cases where we have to use words and feelings to advise and comfort others so that they don't have to be afraid or anxious. (Fearless alms). Recipients of alms are always at peace. What we cherish like relatives, possessions is an element that binds us to the cycle of birth and death, because desires, selfishness will attract us easily in samsara, giving is train me to let go of everything, the day after tomorrow I lie down, Leaving this temporary body, our mind is at ease, just remembering the Buddha will easily be reborn in a peaceful realm. IV. CONCLUSION: All offerings to the Three Jewels, from big things like building pagodas, painting statues, offering four services (clothes, food, beds, medicine), printing and distributing scriptures, offering incense, flowers, lamps, candles to giving alms to everyone, no matter how much or how little, there are blessings. If we sincerely, joyfully make offerings, just like when we give without thinking about the loss, more or less, not for the sake of fame and gain, without expecting others to help us in return, this merit will become merit.
