I. INSTRUCTIONS: Meditation is a practice that is most popular with many people, because people often hear about the powers gained by meditators, such as being able to move out of their souls to other places. If you go to other realms, you can quickly realize enlightenment on the way to study, cure diseases... But there are people who practice meditation without any results, on the contrary, there are people who suffer from mental illnesses often called "Fire pipe imported ghost". Therefore, we need to know clearly about the origin, the method of practice, the results that a person can realize in meditation, avoiding mistakes that can be life-threatening. II. THE ORIGIN OF MEDITATION: Brahminism or Hinduism developed very early in India, the first period about 1500 to 1000 years before the era they had cultural thought recorded in the Vedic scriptures. , The second period from 1000 to 800 years before the era is the Pham Thu (Brāhmana) era, which divided society into 4 classes: The Brahmin class kept religious sacrifices, followed by the Iron Emperor class. Loi (Ksatriya) consists of the king and mandarins in power, down is the Bhikkhu class (Baisya) including farmers, workers, merchants, and down to the last is the Thu Da La (Sùdra) class who are eternal slaves. rate. The third, final thought of the Brahmins was the Upanishads philosophy from 800 to 600 years before the epoch, during which the practice of Yoga arose. When the Buddha was born, Indian society had Jainism, the six non-Buddhist sects, the ideas of 6 pagans and Jainism were not influenced by Brahminism, including the Du Gia sect that advocated monasticism. Meditate for liberation. The Buddha taught many dharmas to learn to escape samsara, Regarding Zen, there are Sutras of An Bang Thu Y (Sutta of Contemplation of Breathing), Sutra of Contemplation of Infinite Life. The Buddha also taught his son when he was a novice monk: "Hey! Rahula, practice mindfulness of breathing in. , breathing out. Hey, Rahula, by practicing mindfulness of breathing in and out, making it perfect, so you will get great results and great benefits ...". III. DEFINITIONS: Boat or Zen is a simple word, it must be Thien Na, transliterated from the Sanskrit word Jhana, translated by the Chinese as Thinking tu or Tinh Lu or Dinh Hue. Thinking cultivation means practicing the method of concentrating thoughts and thoughts in one place to observe and reflect. Meditation is a method of making the mind quiet to think and observe the truth. Tranquility means silence, it contains the meaning STOP, in Zen terms called JUST. Lu means pondering, must use the mind to consider, find out the meaning of a problem that Zen terminology called QUALITY. Dinh Hue is maintained, Dinh is focused, ie TAM is focused on a problem, not to be scattered, Hue is clear. The Sixth Patriarchs taught that: "Meditation is the body of wisdom, wisdom is the use of meditation. While reaching wisdom, meditate in wisdom, while in meditation, wisdom is in meditation. If you know the meaning, That is, the study of meditation and wisdom are equal." In a nutshell, Zen is about stopping distractions, focusing the mind on a problem, in order to gain a clear understanding. In the Diamond Sutra, Mr. Subhuti asked the Buddha: "World-Honored One! If someone generates bodhicitta and wants to seek the Buddha's results, how can he abide in Chan Tam, how can he subdue Vong Tam?" The Buddha replied: "You should not dwell on Form to give birth to your mind. You should not dwell on Sound, Smell, Taste, Touch, and Dharma, but give birth to a mind. If you don't let your mind dwell on anything, you will give birth to Bodhi Mind." In the Shurangama Sutra, Buddha said: "If you want to know the sentence that gives rise to ignorance" (ignorance common with birth and death from immeasurable beginnings to the present day). ) to subtract, and "The fruit of unsurpassed Bodhi" to practice, so now I will show you guys clearly. Hey Ananda! Causing you to be born and samsara for many eons, just six roots, but to make Bodhi fruition happy and liberated, are only your six faculties. Root and Tran are in the same body (Mind) of affliction and liberation (delusion is afflictive, enlightenment is liberated), false consciousnesses as well as flowers spotted in the middle of nowhere. - A-Nan! Because there is a ceiling, it is in the place where the new base arises to distinguish. Because there is already a discriminant faculty in the base, it appears that the distinguishing mark is the scene. The base and the scene for each other are present, not real. Just like the picture of reeds. Therefore, when SEEING, HEARING or KNOW, which arouses thoughts of discrimination, that is the root of ignorance. And when SEEING, HEARING, or KNOWING without having any thoughts of discrimination, that is Nirvana. In the pure heart of Chan, there is nothing to be stored in!" That is the basis of the meditation method IV. CLASSIFICATION: Meditation is classified according to the method of practice. Zen meditation is divided into 3 types: - Tathagata meditation - Patriarch meditation - Non-Buddhist meditation 1. Nhu Lai Zen meditation: Meditation according to the method taught by the Buddha such as the Sutra of Contemplation of Breathing, Quan of Infinite Life or according to Ngu Dinh Tam Quan: - Book of instant insight: To monitor the breath, to treat the disorder of the mind - Contemplation of impurity: That is, to meditate on the body is not pure, to treat greed and lust. - Compassionate contemplation: See all sentient beings are have Buddha-nature, equality, non-hatred, love each other, to counter anger. - Contemplation of causes and conditions: Contemplation that all things are fake, due to predestined conditions, impermanent, true, to combat delusion of materialism. - Precepts to discern contemplation: Distinguishing and visualizing 6 ceilings, 6 senses, 6 consciousnesses, 18 precepts are all unreal with "Self and Dharma" to treat self-grasping. 2. THE MASTER OF MEDITATION: Meditate according to the method of the Patriarchs from Bodhidharma onwards, which is the first koan or audience method. The koan is a problem that the Zen master sets for his disciples to solve, and the first audience, what we say is already a great dialogue, so the first dialogue is the one that hasn't been born yet, that is, the place where there is no birth and death. , always attentive to the place "No birth, no death", called the first audience. The patriarchs often used methods: asking, shouting, hitting, kicking the bones to break the stubborn martial arts, Doubt awakens the disciple after a period of deep contemplation on the koan or the first line, which awakens the disciple to "Spontaneously Enlightenment". For example, after Bodhidharma passed away, the issue of liberation was raised with all the faithful faith of Buddhists. People consulted many Zen masters through the question: "Like Ha Thi Patriarch of the West, what do you mean?" (What is the ultimate meaning of Bodhidharma coming to China?) Zen master Huong Lam replied: "Sitting for a long time gets tired!" Zen Master Cuu Phong replied, "An inch of tortoise hair weighs nine pounds." Zen master Trieu Chau replied, "The cypress tree is in the front yard!" Particularly Thuy Lao consulted this sentence with Ma To Dao Nhat, was kicked by Dao Nhat and fell, after crawling up, woke up from a concussion from body to spirit, Thuy Lao said: "Actually, hundreds of thousands of people. tamarind dish, But suddenly realizing that his finger was missing, the young man suddenly felt his mind brightened, and suddenly he was enlightened. But what does the term Daiwu mean? Zen Buddhism advocates: The teaching of the outside world is passed on, without any set of documents, directly pointing to the mind, seeing the nature to become Buddha (Specially transmitted, not written into scriptures, pointing directly to the mind, seeing the nature is becoming a Buddha), of course. that great enlightenment Inconceivable (Inconceivable) a premise of Enlightenment. Regarding the inconceivable, when the Buddha was still in the world, at the Linh Son Assembly, the Buddha raised a lotus flower branch, silently saying nothing, Mr. Kashyap understood the Buddha's mind, he smiled. Later became the First Patriarch. One day, Patriarch Bodhidharma called his disciples to ask: "The time of my departure is coming soon, so each disciple should tell me his possessions." Come on, Dao Phat, Dao Duc, and General Nuns each present their own interpretations. Finally, there was Hue Kha who bowed to the master and stood in one place, silent without a word. Thereby, the Patriarch passed the robes and bowls to Hue Kha. Not all Zen masters succeed, the following very painful failure story shows the utmost effort of the Zen Master, the disciple still could not break the hard shell of the koan, in this case , in the eyes of the Zen master, just a little, just a little bit more, the disciple will reach great enlightenment, but in the case of the disciple who cannot overcome, only here can the teacher's fierce demands be expressed. is each person must self-knowledge. There was a disciple who, after being given a koan by a Zen master, brooding and brooding for a long time without realizing it, the Zen master patiently, urged and encouraged: - You should try again in three months. Three months later, the disciple returned to the Zen master without any results. The teacher encouraged him: - You should try again for three more weeks. Returning three weeks later, the disciple still had no results. The Zen master pressed further: - If you don't become enlightened in three days, you'll die, so why not practice anymore? Three days later, when the disciple appeared, the Zen master immediately asked: - Why, where did the koan go? - Master, I'm so ashamed, I still can't find it. I will commit suicide. The Zen master shouted: - Then commit suicide. The disciple immediately pulled out the knife in his body, cut open his stomach quickly and collapsed. The Zen master looked at his disciple's face and urged: - Suicide is fine, but has the koan been found yet? Swearing, the disciple said: - White teacher yet! The Zen master added the last hammer blow: - Shut up! Dead people never say. That last hammer did not split the disciple's mind block. A bitter defeat for the master, and also a tragedy for the Zen koan monastery. Meditation stories show us that at the monastery, the Zen master is responsible for monitoring the psycho-physiological progress of the disciple, to push and push the disciple into a corner with no way out, and to make the right choice. The opportunity to force the disciple to overcome, is like pushing the disciple to climb to the top of a pole a hundred yards, such a climb is difficult, once you have reached the top of the pole, you are still urged to climb again. . In the common sense, a limit that a meditator must overcome to reach the limit of meditation, whoever has continued to climb, will leave the top of the pole, fall from a height of a hundred meters, he will have a feeling, a self-realized tipping point. 3. Pagan meditation: Other meditation methods, Non-Buddhist or non-Buddhist, is non-Buddhist Zen. V. MEDITATION: To practice meditation, we must realize that because of our ignorance and hopelessness, we are bound by all conditions, reciting the concept of birth and death, binding us in the cycle of birth and death, practicing meditation so that mixed thoughts do not arise, get rid of samsara. The Buddha spent countless countless eons of practice, because of great predestined circumstances he showed up in this savanna to teach sentient beings. So the main thing is that we have to practice every day, getting rid of the impurities gradually, the self-nature will be clear. 1. AWARENESS: Wanting to end cause and effect to escape from birth and death, meditators must keep 3 karmas pure: Body karma, oral karma, Italian karma. A) The act of creating karma: Therefore, we must not only refrain from killing, stealing, and sexual misconduct, but also practice every action carefully and gently when walking, standing, lying down, sitting. Our mind will not be pure, if we have rough gestures and actions. B) Words create oral karma: We must avoid lying, saying more or less, cursing, praising and criticizing others, listening to people talk and then saying it over and over to cause enmity with each other... so use soft words. loving, gentle, encouraging people to live in harmony with each other. The ancients said, "Illness is subject to import, disaster is subject to export", saying that not only is it easy to cause harm, but the mind is also easily distracted. C) Thought creates mind karma: We must avoid greed, hatred, and delusion. Must keep the mind pure or just remember the good, good things. Whatever you do, you must pay attention to it. Don't let your body do one thing while your mind thinks about other things. This is also meditation. Always keep Body, Speech, and Mind pure from morning until bedtime at night. 2. METHODOLOGY: Regarding the method of meditation, you must: - Condition your body - What you mean - What your mind A) Body Condition: There are 3 parts: a) Before sitting meditation: Must keep the body clean, should take a bath before If you can't take a bath, you must also wash your face, hands, and feet. Clothing must be loose and clean, to avoid itching and discomfort. Do not meditate on a full stomach, at least 2 hours after eating. Also, should not be too hungry, if you meditate early in the morning or before a meal, drink a cup of tea or drink. b) While meditating: Sit on a cushion (or a very soft pillow), or use a pillow on your buttocks to keep the edges of your knees close to the floor, sit down and widen the back of your pants to make your belly comfortable while you meditate. breathe, Rotate left and right a few times and then sit in one of two positions: - Half-sitting: Put your left foot on your right thigh. - Sitting cross-legged: Put the right foot on the left thigh, then put the left foot on the right thigh (legs interlocked) Two hands, first on the knees, to balance the shoulder horizontal, spine straight, then Take the left hand to put on the right heel, the right hand to the left hand, cupped palms, pulled close to the abdomen, the two thumbs intersect, right at the navel. Sit keeping your back (spine) straight, ears and shoulder blades, the tip of the nose and navel right. Eyes open, look at the tip of the nose. The mouth is closed, the upper teeth are next to the lower teeth, the tip of the tongue is curved up to touch the upper gums. Face down, eye gaze with body forming an angle of 30 degrees (eyes look down at a point on the floor, about an arm's length from our feet) to keep the spine straight from the coccyx to the back of the head. During the meditation, do not move, move due to itching or being bitten by ants or mosquitoes (seek ways to prevent it, such as keeping your body, clothes clean, not sitting where there are ants, sitting in the room. mosquito nets where there are no mosquitoes) When there is an initial itch, it will gradually disappear. When you first sit in meditation, you may fall asleep, your body will fall back and forth, wake up, you have to fix your body, sometimes you stop meditating to control whether your body is sitting properly or not, even if you don't fall asleep, your body sometimes suffers. leaning back and forth, you can ask family members to monitor and correct them from time to time. Although the back must be straight, the legs crossed, the arms crossed in front, but the muscles must not be tense, the muscles must be left in a completely relaxed position. Keeping the meditation seat quiet and fresh, you can also burn incense or incense. Do not sit in a place that is too cold or too hot. While meditating, ask family members to keep quiet, don't make noise, don't disturb you, especially don't cause alarms that may be dangerous for you, so you need to choose the most appropriate time, few people will retreat. next. c) After meditating: We must keep our movements from subtle to gross, avoid strong and sudden movements right after sitting in meditation, so we first become aware that we have just finished meditating. Put your hands on your knees, then take a few long breaths, then take a deep breath, rub your hands together to make them warm, then cover your eyes, then rub your forehead and pat your forehead a few times (you can use both hands to knit together). rub each other a few times) then rotate a few times and then release your legs, squeeze your feet from thigh to thigh, Finally got up and walked slowly. While meditating, achieving a sense of comfort should keep this feeling throughout the day. In addition to the time of sitting meditation, always keep the body and mind in harmony, that is, whatever we do, our mind must pay attention to it. When doing nothing, do not let the mind wander about this or that problem, thinking of good deeds or Buddha images is best. B) News: Everyone knows that the movement of the lungs is used to suck oxygen in the air into the body to nourish the blood, expel the used carbon dioxide out, today science shows that the longer you breathe, the better. , just to inhale a lot of oxygen, expel all the carbon dioxide, but have enough time to exchange all the oxygen taken in, the better, in one minute, the lungs normally work 18 times, if we sigh the lungs will worked about 10 times, Thus, the life of the lungs is longer, which means that the human life is longer. We know that people have conscious and unconscious actions, for example we raise our hand to write with a pen, that action is consciously controlled by our mind, when we go from place to place, sometimes we control our feet to step that is a conscious action, sometimes we forget to control but our feet walk on their own, it's an unconscious action or when we walk, our hands equate distance forward, backward) this action we do not control, completely unconscious. Now we practice meditation with all activities conscious and attentive, tying our mind and actions into one. In monasteries in Thailand and Burma, they practice concentration as follows. For example, if they want to raise their right hand, people think in their mind: Dirty, dirty, dirty, hand, hand, right, right, up, up, up... slowly they raise their right hand. By doing so, our mind is always fixed on the action. This type of meditation is called Vipassana Meditation. Breathing is also used to focus the mind (Book of the moment of contemplation), used as experience due to time in the first step when meditating. Example: When applying the Instant Book, one can count 300 breaths in 30 minutes, so every 100 breaths is 10 minutes. We can distinguish 3 types of breathing: - Deep breathing: When you breathe in, you have to take a long breath in, your chest expands, your belly swells, when you exhale, your belly contracts to expel all the carbon dioxide out. Sigh: Breathing takes longer than usual. - Normal breathing: Breathe normally but steadily. Breathing has 3 rhythms: - Beat 2: Inhale and then exhale. - Beat 3: Inhale, pause to hold the breath, exhale (or inhale, exhale, stop holding the breath). - Beat 4: Inhale, stop holding the breath, exhale, stop. Usually people apply deep breathing with 4 or 3 breaths, sigh with breath 3 and breathe normally with breath 2. Most meditation uses normal breathing only. Breathing must be very slow, slow, gentle, between inhalation and cessation of breathing or from inhalation to exhalation, there must be gradual changes with almost no limit. Inhale and exhale using only the nostrils. At the beginning of the meditation session, you must take 3 deep breaths both to expel the carbon dioxide and to follow the inhalation to make the spine upright. C) Mindfulness: This is the main part of the meditation session. The purpose of mind conditioning is "Let go of all discriminating thoughts". The ancients used to say "Mind Vien, Yi Ma" meaning that our mind is like an ape, jumping around, and our mind is going as fast as a galloping horse. For example, we are here in the US and when we hear someone talking about Vietnam, we immediately think of a certain scene in Vietnam, so our idea is that we go faster than the horse runs. can speak as fast as electricity. So what the mind is is to make the mind stop, not thinking at all, doing this is really difficult. There are two methods: * Meditation of the species: Meditation has a subject or problem so that we can focus our thoughts on it, not let the mind wander, think whatever we want to think, this method has 3 stages: - Concentration Mind: (Concentration of thought) keep thoughts quiet, focus on one thing. - Meditation: Thinking about a problem, going from beginning to end, going from cause to effect. - Entering concentration: Enter the ultimate of the problem, immerse yourself in it, no longer think differently. In these three stages, we have to go step by step like when we were young, we have to go to kindergarten before entering primary school, high school, and university. So the first step is to practice concentration: There are many ways, but there are two easy ways to apply: 1. Instantaneous book: Using the method of breathing a little rhythmic breathing 2, focus our thoughts on the breath and count the number, when we inhale we count, when we exhale without counting, we count from 1 to 10 and then back from 10 to 1, or from 1 to 100 and then back to 100 for to 1. When inhaling, exhaling must be very gentle and regular, must count silently and remember clearly, if you forget halfway, you have to count from the beginning, it is imperative to have such discipline, our mind will pay attention. On the breath, our mind settles. 2. Visualization: To focus on an object, the shape is simple. For example, we draw a circle about 2 inches in diameter, paint it yellow, look at it carefully, then when we meditate we keep visualizing and keeping the image of that yellow circle always appearing in our thoughts, without thinking. think otherwise and stay that way throughout the sitting. These are simple methods of concentration, after meditating we must also keep our mind always focused on the action we are doing, For example, when washing dishes in the basin, we pay attention to the work of washing each cup, our every movement, when sweeping the house, our mind must follow each of our sweeping movements with each piece of garbage. When learning to drive, focus your attention on what's in front of you, don't let your mind think otherwise. In short, one, Body and Mind are One to keep every hour, every minute, that is Concentration. Concentrating the mind for a long time depends on the base, depending on the aspiration of each person, maybe a few months, maybe a few years, our mind, which has been in turmoil for many lifetimes, is used to it, now we have to train it for it. so difficult. We see the monkey, people chain it, even if it's 5 or 10 years, it still jumps, climbs up and down, our mind is the same. After we have concentrated our mind, we will begin to meditate on something, in a session only meditate on one issue. For example, we meditate on the first verse in the Ma Ha Prajna Paramita Sutra: Avalokitesvara at the Bodhisattva practice profoundly Prajnaparamita Multi-times, projecting the five aggregates of emptiness, the need for suffering and yoke. Read each word silently and then find out the meaning of each word, each sentence and the whole passage. Contemplation is the stage of Tham Koan or First Audience in the monastery. And finally, we consider the bottom of the problem, so that we and it are only one, which is absorption, the goal of meditation. Never meditate when our mind is not yet concentrated, must be able to concentrate to pass meditation, even if it takes 5 or 10 years or a lifetime, you have to be patient and succeed every step of the way to enter samadhi. * Meditation without race: Sitting in meditation but keeping the mind not thinking about anything, achieving pure mind means reaching the end of meditation. But since this is very difficult, the basic method to practice is as follows: - Following Thoughts: From the very beginning, let the thought be free to think whatever it wants, to gradually see how it imagines, find out the laws of the imagination, and then gradually eliminate the thoughts. When thinking is wrong, then gradually even good thoughts stop, that is to let the mind be quiet, knowing that there are false thoughts arise, then stop it from continuing. For example, if we don't think about the green lawn in front of the yard, if we don't know, we will think of the rose trees we planted there, some branches have flowers, some branches have buds, we think they want good roses. , this afternoon we will plant manure to water ... we are naturally drawn to it, if we know we are meditating, when there is an image of grass in front of the house, we will not think about it anymore to keep our mind pure. Because the formless meditation method is very difficult, often people use the methods of concentration meditation of the formless meditation, after the mind is concentrated, people have just entered the formless meditation. BECAUSE. TIME: People meditate at the hours of the Rat (12pm), Horse (12pm), Rabbit (6am), Rooster (6pm). Such time according to the East has Yin, Yang, 6 am and 6 pm is the change of time of the day, the atmosphere is peaceful, 12 noon is positive, 12 pm is negative, usually people meditate at 6. am and 6 pm, convenient for working hours. About the first time should sit for 10 to 15 minutes, then gradually increase, the method of increasing is as follows: sitting for 15 minutes for 3 or 4 weeks to get used to it and then increase it by 5 minutes. In short, each increase is only about 5 minutes, must practice to get used to the increased time from 3 to 4 weeks to increase 5 minutes more. VII. PLACE: At home, we find a dignified, spacious place, with fresh and quiet air, where we can smoke incense or burn incense, So sitting meditation in front of the altar is the best. When meditating, the lights should not be on, not dark. It is good to have a dim, mellow light. This place is not too cold in winter and not too hot in summer. If there are mosquitoes, you should meditate in the net, so avoid meditating on the bed. VIII. OBSTACLES AND WAYS TO PREVENTION: - The first obstacle is discouragement, because you don't get what you want and then give up. - The second obstacle is laziness. Our body likes to eat well, sleep well, hear people flatter with sweet words, like to see beautiful glamor... indulge in those desires we will practice day by day, gradually and then give up. You have to meditate every day, even if you are sick, you must meditate. Meditation can cure your illness and make your body feel healthier. Meditation is the purification of the mind, of course, the purification of the body, Therefore, it is imperative to keep the precepts strictly confidential, to cultivate the mind to correct the nature, to keep the word to keep the mind every second. There are people who meditate with results, but the mind that is not repaired will get sick, causing more harm than good to themselves. Do not smoke and drink alcohol. Because of illness, he had to take medicine and drink alcohol, so he had to stop practicing meditation that day. While meditating, the chest tightness is caused by uneven breathing. During meditation, if you have a headache, you have to relax (pause) a bit and then practice again, if you still have it, then release the meditation, don't practice any more, the next day will practice. Again, the next day I still had a headache after practicing, so I stopped for a few days and then started practicing again, the headache was caused by too much attention. Falling asleep, that's because you're new to practice, not used to it. Just practice in the first 6 months, psychophysiology is changed, sometimes the temper is abnormal, it is due to psychological repression, so practice disengagement and compassion for everyone around. About 5, 7 years onward, our mind changes a lot, our nature will be more gentle and mature. Practice giving up desires, living a simple life, of course you need to practice generosity. Lay people like us, never think that "Training for a lifetime, enlightenment for a moment", must have firm belief that when our mind is pure, wisdom will be clear, as the Buddha said: "Children's headquarters gives birth to the mind" to answer Mr. Tu Bo De asked: "How to maintain the true mind, how to subdue the hopeless mind?" IX. SOME MEDITATION STORIES: In 1989 and 1990, we visited the Venerable Thich Thong Lac in Trang Bang, Tay Ninh. Although those two lanes were on Sundays, there were no more than 10 people visiting the Venerable Master, all of them from Saigon. The Venerable Master's place includes a simple main hall, about 6 meters wide, a row of guest houses about 8 meters, About 3 meters wide, a row of kitchens like a guest house, surrounded by thatched cups, bamboo woven roofs, ground floor, inside there is only a bamboo bed, very simple. Answering questions about spiritual practice, the Venerable Master said that before he practiced with Zen Master Thanh Tu for a year, then he went to the islands in Rach Gia to practice, but to no avail. Finally, the Venerable Master returned to his hometown in Trang Bang, where he kept the temple. working in the fields, growing pepper, growing cashews and yielding fruits for cultivation, one day the Venerable Master decided to go into retreat, he asked his mother to bring food every day and asked, if he had food, he wouldn't have to worry. Anyway, if you see food that people don't use, you have to go to the room to see if it's alive or dead, if it's dead, ask a neighbor to bury it for you. During this 7 day retreat, the Venerable Master entered the samadhi, After that he went out, still eating and walking normally, but his mind was still in the Great Concentration, one day the practitioner, while lighting incense, bumped into the side of the Buddha's altar, that pain kept him awake. province, out of the Great Concentration. After that, he went to present his attainment to Zen master Thanh Tu. The new Zen master used the meaning of sutras to ask the Venerable, after he recognized the Venerable's attainments, he asked the Venerable to correct the Lotus Sutra, following the Venerable's instructions, we found In the cupboard there are about 30 volumes of 100 pages, which are edited but not printed sutras. The Venerable said, if anyone wants to practice meditation, come and practice with him for 100 days, he will guide and monitor the progress, if you can practice, continue, if anyone wants to stay there to practice for 10 years. when attained, will write and translate some sutras, Those who cannot practice Zen will return to practice the Ten Virtues. During the practice period, in the cup, all meals were provided by the Venerable Master. I know Mr. Nguyen Van An, in the air force band in Tan Son Nhat, he is from Bien Hoa, is a Catholic. Around 1970, he practiced meditation, one day announced to his friends, that he would go into retreat for 49 days and this time he would meet God, but about 49 days later, his friends discovered that he had died in a conservatory. where he went into retreat. Later, when he asked musician Ngo Manh Thu, his army friend, Mr. Thu said that when he discovered he was dead, there was an electric stove under his bed, perhaps he was too cold to use it. electric stove heating, rather he was "ghosted by fire". Moreover, in the first 6 chambers, perhaps he was taught by the teacher, so it was okay, and in the 7th chamber, he automatically practiced so he was possessed by Tau Fire. Around 1980, in a conversation with Mr. Pham Van Tai, our predecessor, the former principal of Nguyen Truong To Technical High School in Saigon, at that time he told me that he practiced Zen and followed the other sect. When you talk to someone, you can see how big or small that person's aura is, clear or dim. After he read the Vimalakirti Sutra, he knew it was an evil religion, so he gave up meditating according to the school he studied. Around 1985, Mr. Tai went to work as a painter for Quang Minh Mechanical Cooperative in Go Vap, the deputy director met me and said that Mr. Tai was "cool", then I visited him, I saw him. still normal, but the sister-in-law in front of him told me that he couldn't sleep at night, walking around and babbling all night (only the couple at the whole Vietnam School of School in Tan Dinh). In 1990, on the occasion of Buddha Amitabha's ass, We met again at Nhat Nguyen Buu Tu, near Lai Thieu market, Mr. Tai's wife said that his illness had decreased, someone guessed it would be over by the end of the year. Meetings like that, he still talked to me as usual, what his wife said in front of him, he did not confirm or deny anything. He later moved to the US, was still ill, and passed away on Thanksgiving in 1999 in Oregon. X. CONCLUSION: Meditation is very attractive to everyone, it is very useful for us, but practicing meditation must be done in the right way, with someone to guide and monitor regularly, it is better, absolutely nothing should be practiced at all. If you have cultivated your mind, you must correct your nature, that is, you must keep your precepts strictly, even if you do not become a Buddha in this life, at least your mind will be prosperous, your wisdom will be clear, and your health will be better.END=NAM MO SHAKYAMUNI BUDDHA.( 3 TIMES ).WORLD VIETNAMESE BUDDHIST ORDER=BUDDHIST DHARMA WHEEL GOLDEN MONASTERY=VIETNAMESE BUDDHIST NUN=THE WOMEN OF THE SAKYA CLAN CHAN TANH.AUSTRALIA,SYDNEY.9/1/2022.VIETNAMESE TRANSLATE ENGLISH BY=VIETNAMESE BUDDHIST NUN=THE WOMEN OF THE SAKYA CLAN CHAN TANH.
